Remembering Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Listen to Coretta Scott King remember her husband after his assassination.

The nation mourned when Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated on April 4, 1968. Four days later, his widow, Coretta Scott King, addressed thousands gathered in Memphis, the first opportunity to publicly eulogize her husband. The next day, in Atlanta, his funeral procession stretched over three and a half miles, crowds marching and mourning from Dr. King’s church to his alma mater, Morehouse, where a public service was held.
