Scorched landscapes near Athens emphasize the horror of what's been lost.

The Attica region of Greece, near Athens, witnessed the country’s worst wildfires in a decade this week, with 81 deaths and many more people reported as missing in the aftermath. According to the BBC, the fires damaged 12,760 acres, half of which were residential areas. Here, a look at the devastation left behind.
