Remembering Selena, Every Way We Can

Selena Quintanilla-Pérez ruled the world of Tejano music until she was killed on March 31, 1995. Before her death, at the age of 23, she had become the first Tejano artist to win a Grammy, to chart on the Billboard Latin charts, and to achieve gold record status, selling over 500,000 copies of her 1990 album "Ven Conmigo." Her murder was a shock to the world of music and her millions of fans, all the more so because it was committed by someone close to her (Yolanda Saldivar, the president of Selena's fan club and manager of her clothing boutique, was convicted of first-degree murder seven months after the attack). The death of such a young star struck a chord with millions of people who, to this day, still mourn the loss of their queen.

In the 23 years since her death, the world’s love for Selena has only grown stronger. Her ongoing fame, with a top-grossing biopic, a cosmetic line, and many more posthumous tributes, is due in large part to the devoted fans who have kept her memory alive. For many of them, the best way to pay tribute is wearing their devotion on their sleeves.
