On September 16, 1995, Prince Charles and Princess Diana did what most parents do come the end of summer: They took their son to school. Then 13 years old, Prince William was accompanied by his mother, father, and 11-year-old brother Harry for his first day at the prestigious Eton College. It was an auspicious occasion for many reasons — and a poignant one in Charles and Diana's troubled marriage. The couple, who married in 1981, had announced their separation in 1992, but only weeks after these photos at Eton, Diana would give a bombshell interview to the BBC in which she'd go into more detail about her and Charles' infidelities. Referring to Camilla Parker Bowles, Diana would also say, infamously, "There were three of us in this marriage, so it was a bit crowded." By December 1995, the Queen herself was urging the two to divorce, a legal split that would eventually become official on August 28, 1996.
