Bjork In Concert - Rome

Björk's Concert Couture

An avant-garde collection from the eccentric artist's latest tour.

The Icelandic singer Björk has always made visuals as much a part of her shows as music, and her latest European tour, which wrapped on July 30 in Rome, was no exception. Here, a look at the costumes and set design for her "Utopia" outing, plus some words from Björk herself about her inspirations.

SOUND AND VISION Santiago Felipe/Getty Images SOUND AND VISION "I found myself on long talks with the set designers, costumers, photographers and directors to fine-tune the balance between the biological and the urban," Björk told Dezeen. Their costumes, designed by Threeasfour, were made from recycled plastic and "sensual peach hairiness," Björk told Dezeen. HYBRIDS Santiago Felipe/Getty Images HYBRIDS "There are all kinds of hybrids, plant-bird-human," she told Dezeen. "I talked about my face being an orchid opening, but also with breathing flute holes on my neck – a mutant bird-plant." Above: the Barcelona date.
