ROSEANNE

'Roseanne' Flashback: The Conners' Famous Guests

We see you, George Clooney.

For nine seasons, viewers watched as the working-class Conner clan — led by mom Roseanne (Roseanne Barr) and dad Dan (John Goodman) — struggled to get by in their fictional Midwestern town of Lanford, Illinois. And while they may not have been the fanciest bunch, along the way, they had occasion to rub shoulders with quite a few Hollywood stars (and soon-to-be stars) in various guest roles. With the series rebooting on ABC (March 27), a look back at the famous faces who appeared on the sitcom. (Pictured: George Clooney with Laurie Metcalf on a season 1 episode in 1988.)

(And to, presumably, make everyone eat their Brussels sprouts.) ABC had planned to pull the episode, until executive producer (and Roseanne's husband) Tom Arnold alerted Variety to the story. Facing bad press, the network reversed course and aired the episode, unedited. "Roseanne" would go down in TV history as one of the first sitcoms to feature an intimate kiss between two women. The episode concludes with the pair dueting on Lynn's "You Ain't Woman Enough." He appeared on the latter for a total of 11 episodes playing Booker Brooks, Roseanne and Jackie's foreman at the factory.
