Robin Leach: Best Photos of the 'Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous' Host

The entertainment journalist is dead at age 76.

Robin Leach, the longtime reporter, columnist, and host of the TV show "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous," on which he immortalized the glittering catchphrase "champagne wishes and caviar dreams," passed away in Las Vegas on August 24 at the age of 76.

The British-born Leach — who'd been hospitalized since November after suffering a stroke — had been most recently working as an entertainment columnist for the Las Vegas Review-Journal. He'd had a long, storied career as a reporter and commentator, but was undoubtedly best remembered as the host of "Lifestyles," a series that ran from 1984 to 1995 and gave a new window into the fizzy, decadent lives of bold-faced names as varied as Cheryl Tiegs, Larry Flynt, Ryan O'Neal, and Julio Iglesias, to name a few. Here, some of the best photos from Leach's career.

One of the early on-air personalities on the celebrity news show "Entertainment Tonight," Leach once said the idea for "Lifestyles" came out of an argument he had with a producer who wanted more depth on an actor's career. "I said to him, 'Hate to tell you, nobody is interested in listening to Suzanne Somers stretching with Shakespeare in Central Park," he told HuffPost in 2014. "The Daily Show" resurrected a 1994 clip of a Leach interview with Trump and then-wife Marla Maples, during which Trump mentioned his infant daughter Tiffany's future breasts. Leach defended Trump, telling the Hollywood Reporter: "He was being complimentary in a spontaneous manner that when it got taken out of context ... was totally unfair.... He was and is a proud dad, period." (L-R): TV personality Robin Leach w. model Cheryl Tiegs and dog. "I do not have a fleet of bodyguards or minders around me," he told The Hollywood Reporter in 2016. "I do all my business by myself and I shop at the supermarket by myself because I enjoy it.... It's been a good life, and it's always been a good life."
