'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood': Tarantino Picks His Charles Manson

The ensemble movie fictionalizes the world of the Manson family murders.

Quentin Tarantino's dark version of 1969 Hollywood is taking shape. For his new movie "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" — about a TV actor (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his stunt double (Brad Pitt) navigating a changing, twisted Tinseltown — the director has cast the role of the most notorious murderer of the era. Damon Herriman (above left), an Australian actor best known for his role on TV's "Justified," will play Charles Manson and join a large ensemble cast that also includes Margot Robbie, Burt Reynolds, Dakota Fanning, and many, many others. Here, a look at some of the cast so far.

On August 9, 1969, Tate and four others were murdered by Manson cult members in the home she shared with her husband, director Roman Polanski. In the world of Tarantino's movie, Tate is the next-door neighbor of the character played by DiCaprio. Robbie recently shared a photo of herself in character.

Burt Reynolds will play George Spahn, the Manson family's blind, 80-year-old landlord.

George Spahn, 80-year-old blind owner of Spahn Ranch, a movie ranch outside this community north of Los Angeles, sits in his home after hearing that a group of former tenants of his property were suspects in the mass murder in which actress Sharon Tate and four others were murdered in the actress' home last August 9th. Spahn said that Charles D. Watson, , male suspect in the murder arrived at his ranch during a rainstorm some time back and stayed on.
