21st Shanghai International Film Festival - 'The Meg' Press Conference

Around the World With Li Bingbing

Keeping up with the fashionable Chinese superstar.

Maybe you recognize her from her Hollywood roles battling zombies (in 2002's "Resident Evil: Retribution") and baddie robots in disguise (for 2014's "Transformers: Age of Extinction") — or maybe, if you're a fan of Chinese cinema and television, you've known her as a star since the late '90s. Whatever the case, Li Bingbing has seemed to be on the verge of international mainstream fame for years, a staple at fashion shows and at the Cannes Film Festival. Soon she'll hit American theaters again opposite action-movie hunk Jason Statham, in "Meg" (in which her nemesis will be a 75-foot-long prehistoric shark). Here, a look at her making the scene over the years.

"I want to be a character in an indie film. I don't know exactly, but I want to play someone with a dramatic story, even if she is not a perfect person, of if she has horrible flaws — someone interesting and intriguing."
