By just about any measure, Steven Spielberg is one of the greatest directors in movie history. He's responsible for four of the 25 highest-grossing films of all time, adjusted for inflation ("E.T.," "Jaws," "Jurassic Park," and "Raiders of the Lost Ark"); he's been nominated for seven Academy Awards for Best Director (only William Wyler, Martin Scorsese, and Billy Wilder have more nominations); and he's won the award twice (for "Schindler's List" and "Saving Private Ryan"). He was the subject of a 2017 HBO documentary, "Spielberg," and he's been a major influence on subsequent generations of directors, from J.J. Abrams to the Duffer Brothers. We can't claim to know how he does it, but we can show you some of what it looks like.
