Alex Trebek's Mustache: An Appreciation

The 'Jeopardy!' host used to be the king of fabulous facial hair.

Longtime "Jeopardy!" host Alex Trebek told TMZ's show "OBJECTtified' that there's a 50/50 chance he'll retire once his current contract is up in 2020. While you contemplate that bleak, Trebek-less future, let's take a moment to pay tribute to the past: namely, Trebek's thick, luxurious mustache of yore. When Trebek shaved his mustache off in 2001, he was stunned by the reaction. "I couldn't understand that," he told OBJECTified. "It got more press than some of the international events at that time." He's been clean-shaven since then, though he briefly grew back his mustache in 2014 for a charity event. He said at the time: "Oddly enough, the women who came to our taping seemed to like it. A lot."
