Smile! It's a Sloth!

The critter with a highly contagious grin

Not quite monkey, not quite bear, sloths are wonderfully strange creatures with a particularly strange trait: They always seem to be smiling. Maybe that's because sleeping up to 20 hours a day really does put a smile on your face; more likely, it's just the shape of their mouth. The dark patch of fur under their bottom lip and the curl of their cheeks give the illusion of a smile. But let's set aside that physiological buzz-kill for the moment and smile back at these slow, forever-grinning creatures.
